Customizing the Game Parameter Settings

MotionClip allows you to easily adjust the game parameter settings using the simple screen shown below. Just type the parameters you want to use into the text box. The first item in the text box becomes the 'Title' of the category.

With MotionClip you can create an unlimited number of game parameters organized into up to 10 categories. You can save game parameter definitions for various sports, or load existing definitions into your projects at any time. This incredible flexibility allows MotionClip to work with any sport!

MotionClip displays dropdown lists on the main screen only for categories that have a Title and at least one parameter defined. If you do not want to see a dropdown list on the main screen you can remove it simply by deleting its content in the screen below!

The "Begin Point Modifier"
This setting allows you to set the initial BEGIN point a few seconds earlier than the moment when you actually press the "BEGIN" button. This helpful features allows you to tag the play shortly after it has started.

The "Begin Point Modifier" is applied only during initial tagging, and works only with video files that have already been captured. To adjust the BEGIN point of plays after they have been tagged you can use the keyboard shortcuts F1 (back 1 second) and F2 (ahead 1 second).

The "End Point Limiter"
This setting determines how tightly MotionClip limits playback upon reaching the end of each tagged play. As you loosen the end point modifier MotionClip allows additional action to be played beyond the end of each tagged event.

If you wish to adjust the "End Point" of plays after they have been tagged you can use the keyboard shortcuts F3 (back 1 second) and F3 (ahead 1 second).

Using the parameter automation features
You may find that it is preferable for some of your categories to remain 'static' as you tag each play, while others might work better if they automatically 'advance' through their list. The small buttons with arrows to the right of each dropdown list control MotionClip's unique automation features, serving just this purpose!

When the automation button is RED MotionClip will freeze the parameter, so that each new play automatically receives the same setting as the previous play. In the example above we have the "Team on the Field" and "Field Position" categories frozen, since these do not typically change without multiple plays being completed.

When the automation button is GREEN MotionClip automatically advances the parameter through its list, so that each new play that you tag automatically receives "the next" setting. In the example below we have the "Current Down" and "Resulting Down" parameters enabled so that they automatically advance from 1st Down, to 2nd down, then 3rd Down, etc, with each new play that we tag.

When an automation button is BLACK (the default), MotionClip RESETs the parameter when each new play is tagged. Thus, no particular setting will get placed in the spreadsheet unless you chose one from the parameter list.
