MotionView Crashes on Startup: Caused by Intel's HD Graphics driver

Solution A number of customers have recently reported MotionView crashes at startup on computer systems that have the "Intel HD" graphics system.

These crashes are not being caused by MotionView, but are actually due to a bug in a file "igdumdim32.dll", located in the Windows/System32 or Windows/SysWow64 folder (the latter for 64 bit systems). You will see this if you open the details display when the crash occurs (igdumdim32.dll will be listed as the faulting module).

The following file is a .zip of igdumdim32.dll version 10.18.10.3960, dated 10/6/2014, which works fine.

You will need to unzip the file and place the dll into the correct folder for your system:

If you have a 32 bit system, place this file into Windows/System32.
If you have a 64 bit system, place this file into Windows/SysWow64.

Depending on your system, you may be blocked from overwriting the file. So you will need to change the file ownership from "Trusted Installer" to "Administrators". The following tech note explains how to do this:
