Ask a question:

How to calculate the image size for my indoor golf simulator hitting screen?

Solution By default, the Optishot Golf Simulator produces an image with a 4:3 aspect ratio of 1024x768. In order to determine the projected image size for this aspect ratio use one of the formulas below.

Note that your hitting screen may be slightly taller, or wider, depending on the size you order. If the screen is taller you will have some "white space" at the top and/or bottom of the projected image. If it is wider then you will have some white space on either side.

The formulas for a 4:3 aspect ratio are:

WIDTH = HEIGHT * 1.3333
or
HEIGHT = WIDTH * 0.75

PROJECTED IMAGE SIZES AT THE DEFAULT 4:3 ASPECT RATIO:
6' tall image will be 8' wide.
7' tall image will be 9.5' wide.
8' tall will be 10.5' wide.
9' tall will be 12' wide.

The Optishot can also be displayed in a 16:9 aspect ratio. For this aspect ratio use these formulas:

WIDTH = HEIGHT * 1.7777
or
HEIGHT = WIDTH * 0.5625

PROJECTED IMAGE SIZES AT A 16:9 ASPECT RATIO
6' tall image will be 10.5' wide.
7' tall image will be 12.5' wide.
8' tall image will be 14' wide.
9' tall image will be 16' wide.
10' tall image will be 17.5' wide.

You will almost certainly not notice if your screen is slightly larger from the projected image. In this case you simply zoom the image so that it fills EITHER the Width or the Height, and accept that there may be some small amount of white space on either side of the other dimension.
