three primary sections to the screen: the Video Playback Area, the Tag Selection Area, and the Table Area:
"MotionClip gives me the opportunity to scout my opponents with great ease and efficiency at a reasonable
cost. It has become a program changing tool for me!" - Mike Fusare - Penfield Men's Volleyball past 12 years
3 time Class A Section V Coach of the Year
This incredible portable device is both a camera
and video player. Use it to get a quick look at
any motion in any setting. Then use MotionView
to perform detailed analysis on your computer.
The SELECTION Area provides up to 10
dropdown lists containing parameters
that can be assigned to each play or
event. In this screenshot we have
defined only 6 sets of parameters, so
only 6 lists are shown. You can work
with as few as 2 or as many as 10
parameter lists. Parameter selections
can be made using either the mouse or
single-key shortcuts. The SELECTION
area can be hidden to provide more
room for the VIDEO PLAYBACK area.
The TABLE Area displays a
spreadsheet representation of the plays
or events you've tagged. Each row in
the table represents one play. As you
make selections in the SELECTION area
these are automatically transferred into
the table. Clicking on any row in the
table takes you directly to that play or
event, displaying it in the VIDEO
PLAYBACK area. The TABLE area can be
made larger to show more tagged plays,
or it can be hidden to provide more
room for the VIDEO PLAYBACK area.

The following "walk through" demonstrates how easy it is to capture, tag, and analyze your games using MotionClip!
Game film video editing software for all sports. A free trial download of the software is also available.
Create or open a Project
The project file will store all of your game film settings, links to video files, and a spreadsheet of the tagged plays. The first
step is to choose a name for your project file:
Add Video to your project
You can add existing video files to your project (.avi or .wmv
format), or you can capture new video from any firewire capable
camera. Using our USB Video Grabber you can capture video
from cameras that do not support firewire, as well as from home
DVD players or VCRs.
Tag the plays
At the beginning of each play, press the "BEGIN" button, or use the keyboard shortcut F9. If you are capturing live video or
video from tape then pressing "BEGIN" will automatically initiate video capture to your hard drive, and playback/recording of
the tape in your camera. As the play comes to an end press the "END" button, or use the keyboard shortcut F10. The play
has now been identified. If you are capturing from live video or tape then video capture to your hard drive will be suspended
at this point. With MotionClip you can tag the plays "on the fly", at the same time as the video is being captured. This means
your video operator can peform LIVE tagging at the game! Or you can simply capture the entire game and tag it later.
Adjust parameters to quantify the play
You can select from up to 10 parameter lists using
either the mouse or keyboard. The keyboard
shortcuts automatically 'cycle' through each
parameter list. Pressing '1' cycles through list 1,
pressing '2' cycles through list 2, etc, resulting in very
efficient tagging. As you set the various play
parameters they are automatically transferred into
the spreadsheet.
When you are satisfied with the settings press the
NEXT button. This will add a new row to the
spreadsheet, allowing you to repeat the sequence
and tag the next play
